How Does Marketing Consent Work? #
Within all Spoki accounts, you can enable marketing consent for marketing-type templates at the end of the message. This feature allows you to effectively manage customer consent for promotional communications.
When a marketing-type template is selected, the “Unsubscribe” button will automatically be displayed by default. If the customer clicks this button, it means they do not consent to receiving future promotional and/or marketing communications.

Effects of Unsubscribing #
Once a customer opts out of marketing communications:
- They will no longer receive promotional messages.
- They will continue to receive service communications, such as Open Template, Utility, or OTP messages, which are not considered marketing.
Difference Between Marketing Opt-Out and Full Unsubscription #
- Marketing Opt-Out: The customer will not receive promotional communications only. For example, in a campaign sent to a customer group, the message will only be delivered to those who have given marketing consent.
- Full Unsubscription: The contact is completely blocked and will not receive any communication—whether marketing, utility, or OTP.
Note: If the template is sent manually in the contact’s individual chat, it will still be sent.
Automation and Status Management #
All Spoki accounts have this automation preconfigured. When a customer clicks “I do not accept” within a marketing template, the marketing consent status will automatically change:
- From null to unsubscribed (if the customer denies consent).
- From null to accepted (if the customer confirms consent).
- From accepted to unsubscribed and vice versa.

Using the Field #
The marketing consent field can be used in all automations, for example:
- Creating statistical logic to analyze acceptance and opt-out rates.
- Automations based on customer status to diversify communications.

We recommend always giving users the option to unsubscribe from promotional communications to avoid being blocked via WhatsApp, which could lead to an account ban.
