Spoki has released an update that enables the initiation of WhatsApp automations based on user behavior detected by the Spoki Pixel on your website. This functionality allows for automated engagement with users who perform specific actions, such as abandoning a cart, visiting key pages, or repeatedly returning to your site, by triggering a WhatsApp conversation at a predefined moment.
What’s new #
This release introduces the capability to use website behavior as a trigger for WhatsApp automations. Previously, automation triggers were limited to internal Spoki events or direct integrations. With the new ‘Pixel behaviour’ starting step, automations can now be initiated by specific user actions on your website, as tracked by the Spoki Pixel.
Key new features include:
- New Automation Trigger: A ‘Pixel behaviour’ option is now available as a starting step for automations.
- Pre-defined Scenarios: Users can select from ready-made scenarios that correspond to common website behaviors, such as abandoned carts or visits to specific pages.
- Custom Timing: The timing for triggering the automation after a website event can be configured.

How it works #
When creating a new automation or editing an existing one, you can now select ‘Pixel behaviour’ as the initial trigger. This option allows you to define the specific website action that will start the automation. For example, you can set up an automation to send a WhatsApp message to a user who adds items to their cart but does not complete the purchase within a specified timeframe.

Where to find it #
To access this new functionality:
- Navigate to Automations.
- When adding a new automation or editing an existing one, select Add a trigger.
- Choose the Pixel behaviour option from the list of available triggers.
Additionally, a brief overview of the Spoki Pixel and its capabilities can be found under Integrations → Spoki Pixel.
Impact #
This update affects all Spoki customers who utilize automations and have the Spoki Pixel installed on their website. There are no breaking changes to existing functionalities.
Key considerations: #
- Processing Delay: There will be a delay of a few minutes between a user’s website action and the initiation of the corresponding automation. This feature is not instantaneous.
- Automation Status: If an automation is disabled during a period when website visits occur, those specific visits will not be processed once the automation is re-enabled. The system does not retroactively process events that occurred while the automation was inactive.
- Spoki Pixel Requirement: This feature requires the Spoki Pixel to be correctly installed and configured on your website to track user behavior.
Users can now create more targeted and timely engagements with their website visitors, potentially improving conversion rates and customer interaction.
